Limestone Blasted Mosaic 1x2

Every sheet of Limestone Blasted Mosaic 1x2 starts as a block of limestone from our own quarry, is cut to size, then hand-set on mesh backing. Chip format is 1x2. Chips sit on a straight grid, quiet enough to run the full height of a wall without fighting anything else in the room.

Surface and color. The face of each chip is opened mechanically, with no acid and no chemical wash, so it keeps the texture the stone had in the ground. Overall the sheet reads white, gray, beige and brown. Mineral content changes through the quarry face, which is why one box can sit lighter or darker than the next. Sheets are thinned in production, so they are light enough to go on a wall without a structural allowance.

The stone. Nothing here is filled, dyed or resin-backed — the sheet is stone and mesh, and what you see is the stone itself. Marble is metamorphic and dense, which is what lets it take a crisp edge on a chip this small.

Where it works. It reads well on a large uninterrupted wall, and equally well in a small powder room where the pattern is close to the eye. For floor use, check the finish against the traffic the room actually takes.

Setting it. Plan the layout from the visible corner outward so any cut sheet lands where it is least seen, and dry-lay a few sheets first to mix batches. Butter the wall rather than the sheet, keep the mesh dry, and align sheets by eye at the seam so the joint disappears.

What the photographs show. Use the flat sheet image to judge scale and the installed images to judge tone. Stone changes noticeably between a close-up and a wall seen at twelve feet.

Natural stone is heavy and unforgiving of a bad measurement, so plan before you order.

Measure. Check the dimensions shown above against the space, and check the route in — doorways, stairs, lifts and turns. Confirm the floor, base or counter can carry the weight listed in the specifications.

Install. Use an installer experienced with natural stone. Plan for at least two people at delivery. Seal the surface before first use.

Care. Clean with warm water and a pH-neutral soap. Do not use vinegar, lemon, bleach or any acidic or abrasive cleaner — these etch marble and travertine permanently. Re-seal periodically; wipe spills promptly.
