Small and powder-room marble sinks
Forty basins at the compact end of the range, from 15.7 inches, in Calacatta, Calacatta Viola, travertine and darker stone.
The three measurements that decide it
First, the wall run: measure the clear wall and subtract at least four inches at each side so the basin is not tight against a return or a door architrave. Second, the projection: bowl depth plus tap projection has to leave a clear path past the basin, and 16 to 18 inches of projection is the usual limit in a cloakroom. Third, the rim height: a counter-top bowl adds 4 to 6 inches to whatever it stands on, while a wall-mounted basin can be set at whatever height suits the user. Get those three right and the stone choice is free.
Wall-mounted or counter-top
Three things to check before you order
-
Powder-room clearances
Allow four inches of clear wall at each side of the basin, and check that the door does not swing into the tap. If the room is under 30 inches wide at the basin wall, look at models 18 inches and under rather than trying to make a 24-inch basin fit.
-
Wall-hung or on a top
Wall-hung frees the floor and lets you set the rim height. It needs solid backing in the wall and the waste and supplies have to be planned before the wall is closed. A counter-top bowl is easier to retrofit but raises the rim by 4 to 6 inches.
-
Weight and backing
A compact basin still weighs 25 to 50 kg before water. The bracket carries that load into the structure behind the wall, so the fixing has to reach timber studs, steel or a plywood pattress. Confirm this with your fitter before the wall is boarded.

Frequently asked questions
What is the smallest basin you make?
The compact range starts at 15.7 inches wide. Below that the bowl stops being usable as a hand basin, so we do not cut smaller in standard sizes. If a project genuinely needs something narrower, it has to go through Custom Orders.
Can a wall-mounted stone basin go on a stud wall?
Yes, provided the bracket reaches timber or steel. A plywood pattress fixed across two studs before boarding is the usual solution. Plasterboard fixings on their own are not adequate for a stone basin.
Do I need a bracket and is it included?
Wall-mounted models need a bracket and it is sold separately, in sizes from 8 to 32 inches to match the basin width. Counter-top bowls need nothing; they sit on the surface and the waste passes through it.
Is a small marble basin harder to keep clean?
No, but it gets used more per square inch. Wipe it dry after use, clean with a pH-neutral cleaner, and re-seal every 6 to 12 months. Avoid acidic cleaners, which etch marble and travertine permanently.
Can I see the actual piece before it ships?
Yes. Ask us after ordering and before production starts, and we will send photographs of the block or the finished piece. Because every basin is cut to order, that request has to reach us early in the 1 to 4 week production window.
