Distressed Travertine Mosaic 1x2

A hand-set travertine mosaic on mesh backing, Distressed Travertine Mosaic 1x2 is produced to order in our Denizli workshop. Chip format is 1x2. Chips sit on a straight grid, quiet enough to run the full height of a wall without fighting anything else in the room.

Surface and color. Chips are tumbled and edge-worn before setting, which knocks the corners back and gives a wall that looks like it has been there a while. Shades sit in the beige, gray, white and brown range. Stone is not manufactured to a color standard, so allow for movement between sheets.

The stone. Marble is metamorphic and dense, which is what lets it take a crisp edge on a chip this small. Nothing here is filled, dyed or resin-backed — the sheet is stone and mesh, and what you see is the stone itself.

Where it works. Most customers use it for a kitchen backsplash or a shower surround; it also works as a fireplace face or a TV-wall panel. For floor use, check the finish against the traffic the room actually takes.

What the photographs show. We photograph every mosaic twice: once flat, square to the camera, so nothing about the pattern is hidden, and once in a finished room so you can see it under real light with furniture in front of it.

Natural stone is heavy and unforgiving of a bad measurement, so plan before you order.

Measure. Check the dimensions shown above against the space, and check the route in — doorways, stairs, lifts and turns. Confirm the floor, base or counter can carry the weight listed in the specifications.

Install. Use an installer experienced with natural stone. Plan for at least two people at delivery. Seal the surface before first use.

Care. Clean with warm water and a pH-neutral soap. Do not use vinegar, lemon, bleach or any acidic or abrasive cleaner — these etch marble and travertine permanently. Re-seal periodically; wipe spills promptly.
