Calacatta Viola Custom Sink

This is the countertop version of our Calacatta Viola basin, carved with an integrated backsplash from the same block as the bowl. Nothing is glued on. The back wall, the basin and the front face are one piece of stone, which is why the veining carries straight up the splash instead of stopping at a joint.

Calacatta Viola is the most dramatic marble we work with. Violet and burgundy veins move across a creamy white ground in patterns that change every few centimetres through the block. Two sinks cut from the same block will not match, and a sink cut from a different block will not come close. If you want a predictable surface, this is the wrong stone; if you want the basin to be the reason people stop in the doorway, it is the right one.

Custom backsplash heights

The standard splash suits most vanities. If you are tiling to a specific line, running the sink under a window, or matching an existing mirror height, email us the dimension you need before ordering and we will carve to it. There is no template restriction; the limit is the thickness of the block.

How it is made

Blocks are selected at the quarry by our own team, rough-cut on diamond wire and waterjet equipment in our workshop in Denizli, Turkey, then hollowed, shaped and polished by hand. Carving an integrated splash from a single block wastes considerably more stone than making the splash separately, which is why most suppliers do not do it.

Before you order

Check that the vanity or counter can carry the load, and remember that a countertop basin adds its full height above the counter, so tap height and mirror position need to be planned around it. A professional installation is strongly recommended.

Living with it

Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Keep vinegar, bleach, citrus and abrasive pads away from the surface. Reseal annually. Variation in color, veining and texture is a property of the stone, not a defect.

Ordering and delivery

Free shipping within the United States, 3 to 4 business days in transit after the piece ships. Full coverage marble and freight insurance is available at checkout. Returns within 30 days under our refund policy; return shipping is the customer's responsibility and a 25% restocking fee applies. Transit damage must be reported within 14 days of delivery.

The stone. The color reads white, purple, black and brown. Veining is whatever the block gave us: the piece you receive will not match the photograph line for line, and that is the nature of the material. Carved from a single block of Calacatta Viola marble in our Denizli workshop — no casting, no veneer, no resin filler.

Sizes. 30 sizes are made to order, from 16" to 40" wide, in 14" and 16" depths and 6" and 8" heights. Pick the width against your vanity, not against the room — a basin that overhangs its counter looks wrong from every angle.

Fitting it. It sits on top of the counter, so you need a countertop with a drain cut-out and a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Measure the finished basin height against your vanity — a vessel adds its full height above the counter.

What the photographs show. Images show the piece in a finished bathroom rather than isolated on white. Use them to judge how the basin sits against a counter and how the stone reads under normal light.

Looking after it. Blot spills rather than leaving them, use a stone-safe cleaner, and reseal periodically. Treated this way the basin outlasts the bathroom around it.

Ordering. Priced $900 to $3,450 depending on size. Production time is 1–4 weeks. Shipping weight is roughly 276 lb, so it travels freight rather than parcel. Shipping is free within the United States from our Connecticut warehouse. Returns are accepted within 30 days under our Refund Policy.
