Questions we are asked
Before you order
Will my piece look exactly like the photographs?
Not exactly, and that is the point. Every basin is cut from a solid block of natural stone, so the veining is decided by geology rather than by us. For a made-to-order piece we photograph the actual block before we start cutting and wait for your approval, so what you see is your stone rather than a sample. Ask us at any point and we will send photographs.
What should I check before I order?
Three things. The width of the vanity or countertop the basin will sit on. The height you want the rim to finish at, which for a counter-top basin means adding the basin height to the vanity height. And the tap, which has to be tall enough to clear the rim. Every dimension for this piece is in the Specifications block above.
How much does it weigh?
It varies a lot: our basins run from about 8 kg for the smallest travertine bowls up to 160 kg for the largest pedestal, and most sit between 12 kg and 60 kg. The exact weight of this piece is listed in the Specifications block above. Plan the support and the lift before delivery day, and have a second pair of hands there.
Does it fit standard plumbing?
It fits most standard setups. Ask your installer to offer the waste and trap up to the piece before fitting rather than after, since stone cannot be adjusted on site the way a ceramic basin can.
Does marble need sealing?
Yes. Seal it before first use and re-seal periodically. A sealed surface resists marking from soap, cosmetics and anything acidic. Wipe spills rather than leaving them to sit, and use a pH-neutral cleaner rather than anything containing acid or bleach.
How long will it take to arrive?
Production first, then transit. If a Delivery Time is shown on this page, that is the production window for this piece; if none is shown it ships from our United States inventory. Transit is 3 to 4 business days inside the United States, and shipping within the US is free.
Can you make it to my dimensions?
Yes. Send us your measurements and we will quote the piece and give you a production window in writing before anything is cut.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
Tell us within 14 days of delivery with photographs and we will put it right. Full-value marble and freight insurance is available as an optional add-on if you would rather have the transit covered outright.
Can I return it?
Within 30 days, yes. Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility and a 25% restocking fee applies. Custom and personalised pieces cannot be returned. Exchanges are available. The full terms are in our refund policy.
